Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.

Hugh Boyd Secondary in Richmond, B.C. introduced its first Social Justice class and the Voices program in 2018.

One of our most exciting projects has been our magazine, Social Justice Voices, which focuses on a range of pressing local and global topics, from environmental justice, the youth vote, the roots of homelessness, to the stigma around mental health, and more.

In response to the invasion of Ukraine, the 2022 Social Justice class committed itself to supporting relief efforts for Ukrainian families and  displaced Ukrainians in B.C. Through weekly bake sales, this year's class was able to raise $1,200.

A special thanks to all the students who dedicated themselves whole-heartedly to this cause, and to Father Mykhailo Ozorovych for offering his personal insights, connections and perspective on the war and refugee crisis, and on how to best contribute. You can listen to Kelvin and Justin's interview with Father Ozorovych under the 'Our Podcast' tab.
